Kiev - the capital and largest city of Ukraine, a city-hero. Located on the Dnieper River. Is the center of Kiev metropolitan area. Kiev - a separate administrative unit of Ukraine, cultural and governmental center of the country, as well as the administrative center of the Kiev region. Located in the north central part of Ukraine. The population is growing at an average of 20 tys.ch. per year. Kiev - the sixth most populous city in Europe after Moscow, London, St. Petersburg, Berlin and Madrid. Kiev was the capital of Kievan Rus and the Principality of Kiev.

In Kiev, there are all nation-wide government and local governments, foreign embassies, the headquarters of most national business organizations and associations, as well as representative offices of foreign companies operating in Ukraine.The city has its own emblem and flag. Because of its historical significance as a center of Kievan Rus from IX to XII century, the city and today is called "Mother of Russian cities.
