The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is an art museum located in Midtown Manhattan in New York City between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.
The museum's collection offers an overview of modern and contemporary art, including works of architecture and design, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, prints, illustrated books and artist's books, film and electronic media. The Library's holdings include approximately 300,000 books.
MoMA also houses a restaurant, the Modern, run by Alsace-born chef Gabriel Kreuther.

It is named after Georges Pompidou, the President of France from 1969 to 1974 who commissioned the building, and was officially opened on 31 January 1977 by President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing.
